Theme:
Set agaisnt the backdrop of facist Italy,Robert Benigni plays a happy go lucky Jewish man. It's his fated arrival in a small Italian town to set up a bookshop that he comes across Dora (Nicolette) although she is not Jewish. His funny, whimsical ways and of course how he manages to squeeze a comic situation out of everything keep you laughing,be it wooing the beautiful Dora or in standing up agaisnt the Fascist impudence.
After a not so whirlwind romance, this does not include Guido's mad escapades and attempts to get close to Dora. They get married and are blessed with a son.Come world war two and the madman's (read:Hitler) quest for ridding Europe of all jews is in full swing and it comes to Guido's family. The family is separated but somehow Guido manages to hide his little son Joshua with him.Guido sees to it that little Joshua does not come to know of all the horrors happening around him.He tells Joshua that all the people in the camp are playing a game, and the first person who wins it gets a tank. And that if little Joshua complains of hunger he loses points, the points will be earned as long as he manages to hide himself from the camp guards.
Little Joshua then makes a sincere effort and does whatever his father tells him to do.Inspite of all the horrors and the sickening feeling around him Guido manages to keep his son smilling and happy at the thought of getting the tank.He manages to do so till the very end when he is shot by the German guards in advent of the American advance. The Jews in the camp are liberated by the americans and young Joshua is renuited with his mother.
watch out for :The one in which young Joshua rejoices after being rescued from the camp by the Americans who come riding in tanks.Young Joshua thinks he's won the game and the tank is his prize.
Another one in which Guido, just before he is shot tells young joshua to hide inside a sweatbox and not to come out until everybody has left.He makes his son laugh for the last time with a gesture.

Movie Title: Munich
Year of release: 2005
Director: Steven Spielberg
Starring:
Year of release: 2005
Director: Steven Spielberg
Starring:
Eric Bana as Avner ,Israeli agent
Daniel Craig as Steve,Israeli agent
Theme:The film revolves around the counter terrorist strikes by the Israeli authorities especially after the Munich massacre of 11 Israeli athletes by the Black September terrorist organization. It tells the story of how avner (bana) from being a virtually unknown lowly placed MOSSAD agent goes on to head one of the deadliest and bloodiest counter terrorist strike operations carried out by Israel. If you are a typical James bond fan then i guess you'll be disappointed, well the film does have it's own share of thrills and the usual cloak and dagger stuff but no bond girls sorry.

why i like it:for the originality,the film's natural to the core.very methodical.Spielberg's done a great job.way to go Steve!!
You will like it if : If you are the history channel sort and like cloak and dagger movies!!
watch out for : The scene in which the terrorists take over the building where the athletes are housed and one of the athletes after overpowering one of the terrorists gets his gun and goes back to help his countrymen but in vain. One more in which Avner and his group conduct a raid along with a group of IDF guys, where the leader of the group introduces himself as Ehud Barak. They kill all the three Palestinian leaders along with their bodyguards under the very nose of lebanese forces.

Introduction
I have been thinking of starting this blog for quite a while now,the plans were put on hold of my tight schedule at work.well anyways better late than never.
Having always been fascinated by movies and i have always felt that every movie carries a message along with it (saying this i'm taking the liberty of excluding the usual dose of bollywood movies and the movies back home, bulk of which have no story lines it's once in a while that a good movie worth watching comes along but a good bollywood movies these days , well i call it HUMBUG!! ).Moreover it also depends on the individual how the person views it and from which perspective.anyways blah blah blah...boring!!
NOW LET'S GET DOWN TO BUSINESS
Time and again being known as an avid watcher of movies many of friends and people from office have come up to me with questions such as "hey man i'm free this weekend so thinking of watching some good movies, suggest me some".So for the convenience of such ilk and kind i thought of putting up this blog.I hope it serves the purpose.
Most of the movies are in English and some in Hindi. Some foreign movies are also listed.
Apologies in advance for most of the movies will be having a mix of war and history as the main themes. In case the reader does not find the movie to his/her liking.WTF it's free world!!
The reviews of the movies are personal and are restricted to my own opinion only.
I'll be glad for your comments and feedbacks.
happy reading.
